Man Utd learn top strike target’s intentions as relative pinpoints ideal move
Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani wants to move to Spain if he leaves the French capital upon the expiry of his contract, according to his mother.
Cavani has a matter of months left on his deal in Paris, although those terms are to be extended to allow him to finish the season
once the action resumes.
The Uruguayan is expected to move on when he becomes a free agent and his mother, Berta Gomez, has confirmed that there are
“many clubs” looking to secure his son’s services.
However, she also told Ovacion Digital that Cavani would prefer to
move to Spain.
“Fortunately today, there are many clubs interested in signing
Cavani,” she said. “He still does not know where he will play, he has
three months left in Paris
“We have to think carefully. At the moment, he has no intention of
returning to Uruguay, he is planning to continue in Europe and would
like to go to Spain.”
Manchester United were linked with the 33-year-old in the January
transfer window, when the Red Devils were on the hunt for a striker
following Marcus Rashford’s injury layoff.
Indeed, one report claimed that Cavani rejected a sizeable offer to
move to Old Trafford.
Atletico Madrid were also heavily credited with interest in the
forward and the Spanish club could renew their interest when the
transfer window re-opens.
It is unclear when the window will fit in, with league campaigns
across Europe on hold.
In other news, ex-United defender Wes Brown has outlined three
transfer targets who he thinks would be “perfect” for his former side
to bring in.
