A woman, Nene Steve, has been arrested by the operatives of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing her maid, Joy Aboel. The Madam of the house was accused of having beaten the maid to death and then went ahead to hang her in order to make it look like a suicide. The incident occurred at 18, Ogundola Street, Bariga, Lagos. Spain records 6,740 new cases of Coronavirus in 24 hours to take their total number to 219,764

Spain has seen a large spike in number of new Coronavirus cases after 6,740 infections were recorded in the last 24 hours.  The thousands of positive tests bring the Spanish total from 213,024 to 219,764, the biggest increase since 7,026 were recorded on April 4.  According to Spanish authorities, the increase of cases jumped up following the use of antibody tests, which have added nearly 17,000 people to the total since they were introduced.  In other news, the daily death toll in Spain fell to 367, the lowest since March 21, taking the total from 22,157 to 22,524.  'We have achieved the goal of a deceleration and slowdown for this week but we remain in a hard phase of the epidemic,' health minister Salvador Illa said yesterday. 

Policeman Shot a Policewoman who is a nursing mother in the head

A policeman who is a member of the Rivers state taskforce on COVID-19 lockdown, has allegedly killed a female colleague who is a nursing mother, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. The incident reportedly happened inside a market at Eneka in Port Harcourt, today April 23. According to reports, the policewoman was attempting to stop the said police officer and other members of the taskforce from destroying the wares of the market women, when the erring officer opened fire. The bullet however hit the policewoman, killing her. Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Police, Joseph Mukan, said the erring policeman has been arrested, disarmed and subjected to orderly room trial. “A policeman attached to the taskforce did the shooting. He was shooting anyhow and in the process killed another policewoman. ECOWAS leaders appoint President Buhari as Champion of the COVID-19 response

A pregnant COVID-19 patient was told by doctors that the baby in her womb had died due to complications from the deadly virus. However, she surprised doctors when she gave birth and the baby was alive. The pregnant mother gave birth on Wednesday, April 22, after doctors told her that she has to deliver her dead baby. Pastor Raped a 16yrs Old Epileptic Girl In Ondo State

A man identified as Peter Alateke has been arraigned before the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Owo, Ondo State, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The defendant, who is said to be a pastor, was said to be taking care of the secondary school pupil, who is suffering from epilepsy, in his church located at Ehinogbe, Owo, but he was said to have raped the teenager, who allegedly developed complications in her private parts and anus. Alateke was arraigned on one count of having an unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor, but pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Mr Kola Olawoye, informed the court that the state was ready to take over the case. The counsel for the defendant, Mr Remi Adetula, urged the court to grant the defendant bail as he would always be available whenever he was needed. Four Armed Robbery Shot Dead by Police

A gang of armed robbers met their end when they went to rob in an estate in Lekki, not knowing that a senior police officer was in the vicinity. The men were carrying out their operation in the area while a senior police officer was visiting the estate. The officer immediately called for backup and other officers arrived in a short while and neutralized the robbers. The robbery gang involved in the operation was made up of five men. Four of the men were killed while the fifth, a young man under the age of 20, was shot in the leg and he was used as bait to lure out the rest of the gang. He also provided the authorities with information on how the gang members gather information before they begin an operation. Below is a video showing police shooting some of the suspected robbers.

WHO, Wuhan Institute of Virology and Billgate Foundation Hacked, Vital Information about Corona Virus leaked

Nearly 25,000 email addresses and their passwords belonging to the National Institute of Health (NIH), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Gates Foundation among other groups fighting the COVID-19 pandemic have been hacked. The data dump also appears to carry email addresses and passwords for a virology centre based in Wuhan, which has given rise to a lot of conspiracy theories. According to a report in  The Washington Post , unknown activists posted 25,000 email addresses and passwords online. This was brought to light by SITE Intelligence Group, a body that monitors online extremism and terrorist groups. Robert Potter, an independent Australian cybersecurity expert, said the data was real as he could verify some of the email IDs and passwords of WHO. The Nigeria Center  for Disease Control, NCDC, this morning shared a photo fo the liquid mixture some Kano state indigenes are ingesting, claiming it is a vaccine against COVID19. In a tweet posted on its handle this morning, NCDC warned against consuming any of such mixtures, adding that there is currently no vaccine or drug approved for COVID19 prevention. A Nigerian Facebook user, Adeleke Rachel Tioluwani has reportedly committed suicide 11 months after writing about "depression and suicide".  Friends who took to social media to mourn the deceased, disclosed that she was facing lots of challenges which pushed her into depression and suicide.  It was gathered that before her death, "Tioluwani who was in psychological pain and had no father-figure in her life, was practically nursing and taking care of her mum, self-sponsoring her schooling with virtually no assistance from anywhere." A man who has been consistently putting away 1,000 and 500 Naira notes in his saving box has lost it all after fire gutted his home. Facebook user, Kelly Mark who shared photos of the burnt notes to Facebook wrote: "Please guys this is what happened to me this afternoon, I have been saving this cash for sometime now. 38 New Case of Corona Virus Recorded in Nigeria

38 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Nigeria. According to NCDC, 23 of the new cases were recorded in Kano, 5 in Gombe, 3 in Kaduna, 2 in Borno, 2 in Abia, 1 each in FCT, Sokoto and Ekiti. There are 665 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria at the moment with 22 deaths. 168 patients have been discharged after they were treated.

Abba Kyari was buried at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja amidst tons of crowd, whom are now self isolating. Customs Explained Why They Are Yet to Release The 110 Trucks of Rice To Be Shared Among Nigerian Citizens As Directed By The President

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Sunday said it does not warehouse all the seized bags of rice at the same location. Spokesman Joseph Attah told our Abuja correspondent on the phone that the bags of rice were warehoused at Customs commands. He said the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouk, could only access 40 of the 150 trucks that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the NCS to release to her as COVID-19 palliatives, According to him, the bags of rice are also subject to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC) test and certification before their release for onward distribution and consumption.
