Lockdown will last as long as necessary - Buhari tells Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari has affirmed that the lockdown order will last as long as his 'scientific advisers' declare they are necessary. In a statement released by Presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu, Buhari who acknowledged the efforts of Nigerians as well as the sacrifices made during the stay at home period, stated that the lockdown is a major attempt to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country.  He said;  “We realize that today, there will be sons and daughters unable to visit their parents, and elders that are isolated from young ones. Gateman who recently traveled from Lagos to Kaduna via public transport, tests positive for Coronavirus

Kaduna State Government has confirmed a new case of Coronavirus in the state. A statement released by the state Commissioner for Health, Amina Mohammed Baloni, said the fresh case is a gateman in the Mando area who recently returned from Lagos.? Baloni said the patient had no connection to the first five cases in the state. ? Dr Baloni said the sixth case had traveled on public transport and contacted the authorities as his symptoms worsened. Shocking: Nigerien wedding guests die of food poisoning in Katsina

Two Nigeriens, who attended a wedding in the Mani Local Government Area of Katsina State, have lost their lives after eating food suspected to have been poisoned. The victims, Bilkisu Surajo, 20, and Ibrahim Sani, 13, were among the 19 guests who ate the poisoned food. The incident occurred on Saturday. Eyewitnesses said the 19 guests, who ate from the poisoned food, became unconscious and were rushed to the General Hospital, Mani, where the two Nigeriens eventually died. The spokesman for the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident on Thursday. He said two suspects, Musa Suleiman, 25, and Shafa’atu Sirajo, 20, both of Ali Yaba village in the Mani Local Government Area of the state, had been arrested in connection with the incident. BREAKING NEWS: Ogun Robbery, police recover 16 vehicles; arrest 8 armed robbers in 2 days

The Ogun State police command on Wednesday announced that it has recovered 16 stolen cars within two days. The force also said it also arrested eight armed robbers and identified the gangs’ hideouts. The command in a statement issued by its public relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in Abeokuta said the feat was recorded when its State CID anti-robbery team and Anti-crime men attached to Ibafo Division of the command, uncovered the hideouts of armed robbers and recovered the stolen cars with assorted arms and ammunition. He said the recovered vehicles were stolen from various parts of the country and the recoveries are as a result of robust intelligence gathering of the command.
