An eight-year-old marriage has ended on a tragic note in Zumbagwe, a remote community in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. Thirty-three-year-old Janet Ekpe poisoned her husband for allegedly dating her best friend and watched him die slowly and painfully. Besides allegedly dating her best friend, Janet also accused her husband, Sunday Ekpe, of starving her of sex while satisfying her friend with same. Janet recalled that she had got used to having marathon sex with Ekpe since they got married only for him to slow down after her second child and later withdrew completely. She said she grew tired of her husband giving excuses night after night as to why he was no longer able to deliver in bed and even telling her on occasions to fantasize about the good old times in order to satisfy her sexual urge. Two confirmed dead as tanker explodes in Ibadan

Two persons were yesterday feared dead at Moniya area of Ibadan, Akinyele Local Government of the state, as a fuel-laden tanker went up in flames leaving several shops and vehicles completely razed by fire. Traders, commuters and residents of the area were seen scampering for safety as the inferno continued unabated with high intensity. The extent of the damage could not yet be determined at the time of filing this report as firemen and sympathisers were still battling the fire late into the night. The extent of the fatality could also not be ascertained as a result of the confusion. Many eyewitnesses told journalists that the inferno started when the tanker skidded off the road. 386 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria - 176 in Lagos and 65 in Kano

386 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Friday, May 8, 2020.  According to Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, out of the 386 new cases of COVID-19, 176 were recorded in Lagos, 65 in Kano, 31 in Katsina, 20 in FCT,  17 in Borno, 15 in Bauchi, 14 in Nasarawa, 13 in Ogun, 10 in Plateau, 4 in Oyo, 4 in Sokoto, 4 in Rivers, 3 in Kaduna, 2 in Edo, 2 in Ebonyi,  2 in Ondo, 1 in Enugu, 1 in Imo, 1 in Gombe, and 1 in Osun State.  Nigeria now has 3912 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 679 patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country, while 117 deaths have been recorded.

United States Vice President aid test positive for Corona virus

Vice President Mike Pence's spokesperson Katie Miller, who also serves as a spokesperson for the White House Coronavirus Task Force, has tested positive for the disease.  Trump confirmed Miller was the staffer who tested positive on Friday during an event with Republican lawmakers at the White House.  ‘She’s wonderful young woman,’ Trump said. ‘Katie tested very good for a long period of time and then - all of a sudden - today she tested positive. 5.1 earth quakes hit Iran as casualties reported

Two people have died and 22 others were injured as they fled their homes in panic following a magnitude 5.1 earthquake that struck northern Iran on Friday. Among the dead were a 21-year-old woman in Tehran who suffered heart failure, and a 60-year-old man in the city of Damavand, east of the capital, killed by a head injury, officials said. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the earthquake was at Damavand, just northeast of the capital, at the depth of 10km (6.2 miles). But it was felt in Tehran, Alborz, Qom, and Qazvin provinces. There were several mild aftershocks, but no serious damage from the quake that struck after midnight on the border of the provinces of Tehran and Mazandaran, authorities said. Officials also urged people who spent the night outdoors to observe social distancing to limit spread of the Coronavirus that has killed nearly 6,500 and infected more than 103,000 in Iran.

Oyo State: Two Corona Virus patients abscond from Oyo Isolation center

Two confirmed COVID-19 cases have escaped from the Oyo state Isolation center. This was disclosed by the governor of the state Seyi Makinde, while giving an update on the fight against the novel virus on his Twitter handle.  Governor Makinde says the state had 33 confirmed cases prior to when the two confirmed cases absconded. ''Of the 33 active cases being managed by the state, two have absconded, possibly to their permanent places of residence. This brings the number of active cases in Oyo State to 31.'' he tweeted

Over 3.5million confirmed Coronavirus cases have now been recorded around the world

The new Coronavirus has now infected more than 3.million people worldwide.  At least 3,506,729 people have been infected by the virus since it emerged in China, and 247,381 people have died from the disease, according to Johns Hopkins University figures.   The United States has the world's highest figures with 1,176,548 known infections and 68,066 deaths, followed by Spain, the worst hit in Europe with 248,301 cases, and 25,428 deaths, while Italy has 210,717 cases with 28,884 deaths. US president, Donald Trump  recently disclosed that the Coronavirus vaccine will be ready by the end of the year, but experts say it could take far longer.
